The old castle and the sea. Το γέρικο κάστρο και η θάλασσα.

While I was in Crete, I visited(again) the house coast of the island, where there is this old Venetian castle, still in good shape. There are many stories and rumors about the castle among the locals, especially one saying that people are still seeing armored riders on horseback, entering or leaving the castle, depending on the time of the day, usually very early in the morning, before sunrise, and the atmospheric conditions. I have never seen a rider myself, neither have I met someone who would claim that he has seen one with his own eyes. All they say is that someone else has seen the riders. These old stories and rumors are not bad, they sound very romantic and they add to the beauty and mystery of the place. Once more, I enjoyed my visit there, enjoyed the sea and a good meal with local plates and wine after the bath.

Όσο βρισκόμουνα στην Κρήτη, αφιέρωσα μια μέρα για μια ακόμη επίσκεψη στα Σφακιά, στις νότιες ακτές, στο Φραγκοκάστελλο. Μου αρέσει το μέρος και η θάλασσα είναι υπέροχη, και κυκλοφορούν τόσες ιστορίες και θρύλοι για τους πάνοπλους καβαλλάρηδες, τους Δροσουλίτες, που μπαινοβγαίνουν στο κάστρο. Εγώ όσες φορές κι αν πήγα, δεν συνάντησα κανέναν, ούτε βρήκα κάποιον να μου πεί πως ο ίδιος τους είχε δεί. Όλοι λένε πως κάποιος άλλος τους έχει δει να μπαινοβγαίνουν στο κάστρο, συνήθως πολύ πρωί, πριν να βγεί ο ήλιος και κάτω από ειδικές καιρικές συνθήκες. Δεν είναι κακές αυτές οι ιστορίες και οι θρύλοι. Ακούγονται τόσο ρομαντικοί και προσθέτουν στον ρομαντισμό και το μυστήριο του μέρους. Αρκέστηκα και αυτήν την φορά να χαρώ την θάλασσα και την τοπική κουζίνα μετά το μπάνιο.
