Oleanders. Πκροδάφνες.

While walking down the street to reach Glyfada beach the other evening, passed these beautiful and colorful Oleanders. Could not resist not to take a couple of photographs of them.

Gorgeous images! I have oleanders growing in my backyard in the desert. I love their delicate fragrance and how they can tolerate hot weather.

We don't have oleanders here ... too cold I guess. So I'll enjoy yours even more! Too bad they haven't invented 'scratch-n-sniff' monitors yet!

Beautiful rich colors you captured with your lens....
reminds me of the painting by Van Gogh, oleanders were joyous, life-affirming flowers that bloomed "riotously" and were "continually renewing" themselves.

In his painting of August 1888, the flowers fill a majolica jug that the artist used for other still lifes made in Arles. They are symbolically juxtaposed with Émile Zola's La joie de vivre, a novel that Van Gogh had placed in contrast to an open Bible in a Nuenen still life of 1885.

Have a wonderful day.

Costas, I love the Oleander! So pretty and they have a wonderful aroma! Unfortunately, I decided to pull mine out of the ground as it's highly toxic...I couldn't take a chance with young children, dogs and my bird. :(
